Sea urchins

There is only one species of sea urchin in the White sea. The latest molecular researches showed that this is not Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis, but S. pallidus. It is very complicated to identify these two species by morphology.

All the White sea urchins live deeper than 10 m because of the low salinity.

You can see on the middle photo the mouth of sea urchin (5 lime teeth) and on the low - anus.
