Polychaetes.

This is definitely the most various and numerous group of animals in the White sea.

I collected here rather strange species.

This is a deep water polychaete Scalibregma inflatum. Scientists know very little about this species.

The next species is Travisia forbesi. Scalibregma and Travisia live in the silt. Actually that's all biologists know about their behaviour.

 

The next bunch of feathers is Dasychone bombyx.

These feathers are its gills. They are covered with cilias and the cilias make a water current. These gills are the worm's feeding filter. Something small and eateble is caught from the water by cilias and transportes towards the mouth.
